June Office Update

Happy June from Kanawha City Pediatric Dentistry! Our office reopened on May 11th so the team is ready and waiting to take care of your little one’s smile again. Please call our office to schedule your child’s next dental appointment.

There are a few new implementations to be aware of before you and your child arrive at our office. Before the appointment, all paperwork should be printed from the website and completed. The paperwork can be found at pediatricdentistcharleston.com, under the "new patient" tab in "online forms". For payments, we ask you to pay your co-pay on our website or call our office with your credit card number. Filling out your virtual paperwork and paying your copay online or over the phone ahead of time helps the process move along more swiftly. When you arrive with your child, please text us at 304-926-9260 to let us know you are here. Everyone must wear a mask, and we ask parents of children above the age of 9 to stay in the car if the child is comfortable going in alone. Patient appointments have been spaced out so it will be less crowded and we can practice social distancing. For both our team’s safety and your child’s we will be wearing a lot more gear! Our team will wear Face shields, masks, and protective gowns, but we are still the same smiling faces underneath. If you or your child feel ill or are running a fever of 100.4 please stay home and call us to reschedule the appointment. This is our "new normal" and it seems to be running very smoothly so far! Thanks to everyone for their cooperation during this time.

Did you know June is National Smile Month? Every day is a good day to review your child’s dental care routine to make sure they are forming healthy habits that will last a lifetime. We suggest flossing every time your child brushes their teeth. A lot of the cavities we see in kids are between their teeth, which can be eliminated with adequate flossing. If you are looking for extra help to encourage your child to take care of their teeth our office offers brushing charts! These charts let them keep track of how many times they have brushed and flossed their teeth and give them a sense of accomplishment. Your child’s diet can also play a large part in keeping their smile healthy. Add in fruits and vegetables every day to your child’s meals.  For snack options, we suggest drinking milk and eating cheese.

In other recent news, Kanawha City Pediatric Dentistry has a new associate, Dr. Mindy Husson. We are excited for you to meet her! She has taught and practiced in Richmond, VA for the last 15 years and has returned to her WV roots. Please help us welcome Dr. Mindy!

Thank you for your patience in this unprecedented time. Our patients have been very pleased with the safeguards we are taking and we have still been able to run efficiently with little waiting time. Please call our office if you have questions about finding your online forms or any of the new procedures.
